About us

Post by post

How a fencing job runs

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the boundary

Send the form or call 01603 265243 with the rough length, the height you want and what is there now. Photos help.

  2. Step 2: We look and measure

We arrange to see the job, measure the run, check the ground and talk through fence types, heights and posts.

  3. Step 3: A clear written quote

You get a free quote with honest pricing that says what is included, from removal of the old fence to clearing up.

  4. Step 4: Built and cleared away

We set the posts, fit the boards or panels, hang any gates and take the waste away, leaving the boundary ready to use.

Questions

Fencing questions we are asked most

Something else on your mind? Ask us when you send your details and we will answer it with your quote.

Do I need planning permission for a new fence?

Usually not. In England a fence up to 2 metres high is normally permitted development, or up to 1 metre next to a road used by vehicles. Listed buildings, conservation areas and some estates have their own rules, so check if any of those apply to you.

Which side of the fence is mine?

Your title deeds and the Land Registry plan are the place to look, though many do not mark it. If it is unclear, talk to your neighbour before work starts and agree it in writing.

Do you take the old fence away?

Yes. Taking down and removing the old fence can be part of the job, and the quote will say so.

Are your quotes free?

Yes. Every quote is free and written down, so you know what you are paying for before any work is booked.

Who will actually build my fence?

We do. Norwich Fencing Contractors is run by James Steven Landscapes & Lawns and the work is not subcontracted.

Need a new fence or a repair?

Tell us the length, the height and what is there now, and we will come back to you with a free quote.
